BNSF Chilli Sub. - Weathering, Re-Numbering and Patching Services

I also,  offer locomotive weathering, re-numbering and patching service for any scale. I can weather one car or 100's. Using a variety of weathering methods, any look specific to your taste, can be achieved. From a light dusting, representing a newly painted piece of equipment out on the line for only a short period of time, to the grubbiest, dirtiest looking piece of rolling stock in your fleet. I can accommodate you!  My rates are the most economical you'll find and I offer a guarantee with everything service I provide. If you don't like it, I'll buy it back! Check out my work and pricing structure at the bottom of the page.

All rolling stock receives weathering that is resistant to normal wear and tear of normal handling. The finishes are protected with a sealer which seals and protects the weathering. The final finish provides a flat /satin look which repels dust and makes cleaning simpler. Finally, locomotives and cars are carefully packed and readied for shipment.

Re-numbering usually involves taking a "stock" painted unit out the box and re-numbering the unit to which ever new number you like. With today's paint from the factory, as good as, or better than most custom painting efforts, it make a lot of sense to change only the numbers, providing your railroad with and inexpensive way to have different motive power!

The term "patching" involves applying a same or similar colored patch to a road name and or number and then re-lettering or re-numbering the locomotive or car. This is a common practice in use since the 1970's as an inexpensive way to re-designate locomotives and cars once sold to a new owner or railroad. BNSF, UP, NS and others use patching extensively, as it seems locomotive numbers are constantly changing as new locomotives are purchased.

On occasion, I do custom detailing and painting, but that is usually determined by my work load and is a "quote" basis only. However, feel free to inquire. See RATES at bottom of page!

Here is a sampling of different units in service on the BNSF Chillicothe Subdivision. The BN unit on the left has been patched and received a "heavy" weathering process. BNSF #765 wears  "light" weathering. BNSF #6793 is a re-paint with "medium" weathering applied.

BNSF #6951 is and Ex-AT&SF SD40-2 that has been patched and received it's current road number. The unit is weathering to show many years of service, yet is in well maintained mechanical condition.

These are some cars of clients of mine. They represent weathering across the entire spectrum. The HOKL car has been patched to show new ownership and started out as and Ex-AT&SF car.

BNSF #1000 has medium weathering applied with streaking near exhaust stack, simulating oil.
